Walking the Blue Run Trail
The Blue Run Trail of Dunnellon Park is located on the banks of the Rainbow River. Several different walking trails take visitors through the woods to explore the scenery of the local area.
Signs posted along the trail tell the story of how Dunnellon grew to be such an important location in Florida. The Rainbow River is a crystal clear waterway that provides visitors with a beautiful water adventure.
Much of the trail is paved which allows for people of all ages to enjoy to the pathways. Biking, fishing and other opportunities are all available from the park.
Violet Sky’s Visit
I found Rainbow River to be very pretty and a fun getaway. Dunnellon does a great job at highlighting the beauty of the river and its surrounding forest. The evening was a perfect time to visit the site because most of the busy traffic had left and the sun was beginning to set.
I also really enjoyed learning about a canal that once almost connected the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean across Florida. The phosphate mines were interesting to learn about as well.
How to Visit
The parking lot for this park is located on Highway 484 heading west into Dunnellon. Kayaking, tubing and other aquatic activities are allowed from the wooden ramp leading down to the water.
Thanks for reading and as always, keep on truckin’.
