Scenic Pattons Run Overlook
Imagine pulling off along a mountain overlook to listen to the peaceful sounds of a gentle river and the rustle of fallen autumn leaves. Pattons Run Overlook is a beautiful stop along scenic US-74 in Nantahala National Forest. Nestled among a few graceful curves of country road, this place is a must see if you are cruising through the mountains. It is located between the quaint towns of Wesser and Topton along the banks of the Nantahala River!
Also here at the stop is a small trail that leads down to the river which allows as a place to load and unload kayaks or tubes. Overall this scenic overlook gives passerby a wonderful place to take some photos while exploring the river! Established in 1999, Pattons Run Overlook has been visited by many excited tourists and locals searching for some nature fun.
Violet Sky’s Visit
Driving through the fall mountain foliage was a wonderful experience. The trees give off some beautiful hues of fall colors. I was amazed by the mountains and the cute river that flows through the park.
How to Visit
This overlook is free to visit along your drive into the Nantahala National Forest. It definitely makes for a wonderful stop and great photo ops!
