65th Annual Panhandle Watermelon Festival
The 65th Annual Panhandle Watermelon Festival was absolutely wonderful! Every year the City of Chipley puts on a fun-filled family festival complete with some popular country music stars performing live in the park. Also be sure to put on your watermelon apparel and grab a fresh slice at one of the sponsor booths!
The Panhandle Watermelon Festival has been held for 65 years in the lovely community of Chipley, Florida. Each year this free outdoor family event brings in popular performers along with buckets full of freshly sliced watermelon!
For the 65th Annual Panhandle Watermelon Festival the performers included Jamie O’Neal, Andy Griggs and the Gatlin Brothers. All of the performers seemed to have a great time for a good turnout.
Violet Sky’s Visit
This was my third time visiting Chipley, Florida for the Panhandle Watermelon Festival. Over the past few years I have had the delightful experience of watching Deana Carter, Joe Nichols, Sara Evans, William Michael Morgan and also the performers of the 2021 event.
The family fun experience is a great opportunity to be outdoors and enjoy a free concert! Also the watermelon is absolutely delicious! At the 65th Annual event it was pretty amazing to watch fireflies circling the stage making a magical summer performance. The photo bus also allows visitors to climb inside a vintage VW bus filled with photo props to snap some memories for a souvenir photo collage!
How to Visit
The Panhandle Watermelon Festival is held at the end of June each year. It is a free event but no alcohol or smoking is allowing inside the event area. It is held at Jim Trawick Park in Chipley! For more information, visit the official website here.
